NEW YORK — St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) first-year setter and right side Carissa Zwiefelhofer (North Bend, Wash./Mount Si) was selected as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office. She is the second Bear, following Abigail Encinia, to earn the accolade this season. Sophomore libero Mariana Medrano (El Paso, Texas/Loretto Academy) was also recognized with Honorable Mention distinction.

Zwiefelhofer produced a strong all-around week across five matches, recording 54 kills, 45 assists, and 37 digs, while posting two triple-doubles and reaching double figures in kills four times. She opened the week with 17 kills, 13 assists, and nine digs in four sets against Sarah Lawrence, then delivered 10 kills, 11 assists, and 11 digs against Purchase for her fourth triple-double of the season.

She added 11 kills, nine assists, and six digs against Farmingdale State before contributing at the service line with three aces in the sweep of Medgar Evers. Zwiefelhofer closed the week with her fifth triple-double of the season at Rutgers–Camden, finishing with 13 kills, 11 assists, and 10 digs in a five-set match against the host Scarlet Raptors.

Owning five triple-doubles, the Washington state native leads the conference and ranks fourth nationally in the category. She also places in fifth in the Skyline with 2.95 kills per set.

Medrano anchored the St. Joseph's defense throughout the week, averaging 4.3 digs per set. Her week included 18 digs against Sarah Lawrence, 24 digs in the matchup with Farmingdale State, and a match-high and a season-best 34 digs at Rutgers–Camden.

The 2025 season comes to a close for the Bears on Wednesday, November 5 at St. Joseph's (Long Island). First serve is scheduled for 7 pm.
