Nol Serqa Named Head Men’s Soccer Coach

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Director of Athletics and Recreation Megan Valentine has announced the appointment of Nol Serqa as the head men's soccer coach at St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn. Serqa, the fourth head coach in program history, brings extensive experience across youth, collegiate, and club soccer, with a strong background in player development, tactical preparation, and coach education.

"Our men's soccer program had one of its most successful seasons in program history last year, and it was important for us to find a coach who will help us continue moving in this positive direction," remarked Valentine. "Nol's experience with other local collegiate soccer programs at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels and with soccer clubs will translate well for our program."

"I am truly excited to begin this new chapter as head men's soccer coach at St. Joseph's University Brooklyn," said Serqa. "I want to thank Athletic Director Megan Valentine and the administration for this opportunity. I look forward to building a competitive program that not only strives for success on the field, but also develops student-athletes who excel in the classroom and in the community."

Serqa began his coaching career in early 2020 with the New York Red Bulls' youth soccer programs, where he spearheaded training sessions and implemented player development curricula. In 2022, he was named head coach of the U14 academy team at Albion Soccer Club in Brooklyn before being appointed Director of Coaching at Westchester Soccer Club the following summer, a role he continues to hold.

Serqa began his collegiate coaching career in the fall of 2021, serving as an assistant coach at Hunter College. In 2023, he joined the Iona University men's soccer staff as an assistant, helping guide the Gaels to a 12-4 overall record, a 9-1 conference mark, and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Before beginning his coaching career, Serqa was a two-year member of the Monroe University men's soccer program, making 16 appearances before injuries sidelined him. Prior to moving to the United States, Serqa progressed through the professional academy pathway at KF Besa in Pejë, Kosovo, playing at the second-division level.

Serqa holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Brooklyn College and is pursuing his UEFA A License through the Football Federation of Kosovo. He also holds a certification in Performance Analysis in Football (PFSA) and a certificate in Psychology for High Performance Sports via the Barça Innovation Hub.

The Bears open the 2025 season on Friday, August 29 against the University of Hartford at 2 pm from Randall's Island Field 10.
