PURCHASE, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) cross country team opened the 2025 season at the Purchase College Invitational on Saturday. Jennifer Sarji (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ganilo Quintos (Boston, Mass.) were the top SJBK finishers of the women's 4k and men's 6k, respectively.
Sarji clocked in a 49th-place finish with a time of 20:20. Fellow juniors Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas) and Vivian Garcia (Eastvale, Calif.) finished within 22 minutes while first-year Jizelle Velazquez (New York, N.Y.) posted a 23:07 time as the women's squad finished their opening meet in 13th place. Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.) and Gabriella Cinque (Staten Island, N.Y.) also finished inside 30 minutes.
Quintos topped the men's Bears with a sub-25-minute finish, placing 67th. Fellow newcomer Guillermo Victorio (Corona, N.Y.) cracked the top-100 with a 26:49 finish with sophomore Gabriel Lopez (Forest Hills, N.Y.) behind him at 28:30. Miguel Toribio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished in 32 minutes with Jody Louro (Austin, Texas) and Joshua Gordon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) a minute behind. The team also finished their meet in 13th place.
