Box Score 2 SANATOGA, PA. — The St. Joseph's University N.Y. - (Brooklyn) baseball team split their double header against The University of Valley Forge on Wednesday. The first game finished 10-7 in favor the Bears while the Patriots came out on top 10-11 in game two.
How it Happened (Game 1):
Andrew Ardito (Brooklyn, N.Y.) secured a two-RBI double in the first, sending Vincent Camerada (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Matt Aracti (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to draw first blood. The Bears plated two more runs in the second to hold a 4-0 lead before growing to 6-0 after four complete. St. Joseph's advantage grew to 10-0 thanks to a four-run fifth inning led by a two-RBI base knock fro Dominic Yumul (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands).
The Patriots were able to find their way on the board, scoring two in their end of the fifth and five in the sixth to shortening their deficit but it wasn't enough to rectify the damage as the Bears held on, 10-7.
How it Happened (Game 2):
The second game started with a Camerada RBI single before the Patriots responded with two runs of their own, 2-1. After a four-run second for the hosts, the Bears tied the contest up at six after a streak of RBI doubles from Christopher Stegmuller (Baldwin, N.Y.), Arcati, Camerada, and Aridito. In Stegmuller's second at-bat of the inning, his single plated Justin Haluck (Plainedge, N.Y.) to give the navy and gray a 6-5 lead. Valley Forge restored their lead in the fourth, 7-6.
After Haluck's leadoff triple and Joe Meglio's (Howard Beach, N.Y.) walk in the fifth, Stegmuller drove the pair home thanks to his two-bagger before scoring later in the frame, 10-7. A passed ball and a series of walks in the home end of the stanza swung the advantage in their favor. Valley Forge won 11-10 with the game being called due to darkness at the end of the inning.
